Divergent Realities – Sitting Duck – San Diego

This was the first room we did in San Diego. They stick with the theme of secret missions and indoctrination into the agency, from their website through completion of the ‘mission’. This indoctrination mission is a great introduction to escape rooms for 2 people who want to try the experience without having to join up with a bunch of strangers. I look forward to returning to try The Informant. See below for the full review.

As an Agent Recruit, you’re going to use your wits, cunning, and cleverness to defeat the obstacles you encounter. The room is small, but the mission is huge. Failure is an option, but successful agents will earn their place at the Divergent Realities Bureau. If you can work as a small team and think you’ve got what it takes to be an Agent, this is the mission for you.

It is a rare time when more than 2 of us can get together in the same place at the same time. This was one of those times. This was also the reunion for W, M, and J since our successful escape from Ritual Room with Portland’s Escapism.

This is one of the few companies that I know that includes hidden information in the website. There are discount codes, some obvious, some not as obvious. I think this is a nice touch that more rooms should incorporate. When we arrived, we got a nice introduction on the escape room mission and teamwork. No problem for us!

We had the option of being handcuffed, and always looking for a challenged, asked for the cuffing to begin! Now, the room is small. It is probably best for 2 people, but I think if you wanted, you could try it as a solo. The puzzles were varied, and it had a pretty good flow. Or maybe it was just us. We were ON! On to the extent that we got out in just over 15 minutes, with no hints. It went so face, I’m not sure what really happened!

Anyway, at the time we’d broken the record, by about 3 minutes. However, for some reason, I can’t find the picture on their Facebook or Yelp site. We were looking forward to trying their next room, The Informant, (see Live Escape Room Reviews‘ review). Unfortunately, they were booked up for the remainder of the time the three of us would be in San Diego. Next time.
