⍟⍟1/2. Not recommended by EscapeRoomers. Day 2 of the Blitz, room 5 of the day, and the second back-to-back with Locked. This was not that much fun, and a bit of a let down after doing Surgery only minutes before. A good variety of puzzles, but the flow wasn’t very intuitive. Most of the puzzles didn’t seem to fit with the theme. When asking for hints, the employee did not respond for a few minutes, and had no idea where we were. See below for the full review.
Difficulty Level: ⍟⍟⍟⍟
Hints Taken: ~3
“The main task is to turn off the security system of the bank, but first, you will need to get into the control room somehow…”
There were a few fun puzzles in this room, but overall a disappointment, especially after we had so much fun with Surgery. First, this is hardly a “bank job.” You are in a back office, and you need to get through to another office and enter some information on the computer. It might as well have been called, “Locked in the Office Breakroom.” The puzzles were random, and had little to do with the theme or the narrative.
The escape-room-factory feeling of Locked became very clear when we asked for our first hint. There was no response, so we sat there a few minutes until he was available. Then it was him trying to figure out where we were in the room. “Have you done this? Have you done this? Oh, ok, then do this.”
The hints were not hints, they were answers. And once we got the answers, there was no “Aha!” moment, like we understood what we should have done. Instead, it was more like, “Huh?” We ended up about 2 minutes over, which probably would not have happened if we’d gotten hints in a timely fashion. Bad name and bad flow. Skip The Bank Job, and stick with Surgery.
